Lawrence King Mistrial
It is entirely fucked up that a mistrial was declared in the Lawrence King trial. A kid brings a gun to school and shoots another, unarmed kid for being feminine, and they couldn’t come to a decision on whether it was murder or manslaughter.
Jurors told Ventura County Superior Court Judge Charles Campbell they were unable to reach a unanimous decision on the degree of Brandon McInerney’s guilt for killing 15-year-old Larry King. The nine-woman, three-man panel said they took a series of votes with the last one being seven in favor of voluntary manslaughter, while five others supported either first-degree or second-degree murder.
What complete goddamned horseshit. He threatened to kill him, and then he killed him. How on earth is that manslaughter?

The power’s back on! & Has been for a while: I really appreciated a break from the internets.
No Power
Due to a freak thunderstorm that had gusts of up to 80 mph, we have no power and haven’t all day, and may not again until Sunday or Monday.
If you’re looking for me, this is one of those rare times the phone may make more sense, although I will come into the office to check email while we have no power at home.

GaGa’s Drag King Performance
She stayed in drag & accepted the “best female performance” award in drag, too, which I can’t help but appreciate. I can’t stand the song – ugh, rock ballads. So what’s the vote? Does she make a decent king? I like the way her physicality changed – you can see how she’s keeping her shoulders, torso and hips a little stiffer.

I never did like Billy Corgan or his whiny band, but now I’ve got a new reason: he’s decided to be a complete asshole in a business dealing with a trans woman. Who is right or wrong is beside the point: that he decided to be a jerk about calling her “him/her” in posts about the dispute is what sucks.
