Join us for a panel discussion concerning successful workplace transitions for transgender employees. Panelists will include: Stephanie Battaglino, Assistant Vice President; Communications Director of New York Life; Tony Ferraiolo, Manufacturing Supervisor for Madison Company; M. Dru Levasseur, Staff Attorney for Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund, Inc.; and Margaret S. Stump, PhD, Chief Investment Officer at Quantitative Management, a subsidiary of Prudential. Our panelists will discuss their personal experiences transitioning, how their transitions were handled and what they did to facilitate at their respective places of business. Stephanie Battaglino, Assistant Vice President – Communications Director at New York Life Insurance Company, successfully transitioned on the job in October of 2005, and is the first transgender person to do so in the company’s 165–year history. In so doing, she worked with NYL’s human resources executives to establish a process for successful workplace transitions and was a founding committee member of NYLPride. Stephanie serves on Out & Equal Workplace Advocates’ Transgender Advisory Committee and is a Board Member of the International Foundation for Gender Education (IFGE). Stephanie holds a BA in Communication from the University of Delaware and an MBA in Marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She resides in Cliffside Park, NJ with her partner Mari and her son Andrew.

Tony Ferraiolo is employed as a Manufacturing Supervisor for Madison Company a level sensor manufacture in Branford, CT. He was featured in Fortune 500 Small Business Magazine for his successful transition at the workplace. Tony is the President and Co-Founder of the Jim Collins Foundation, which provides financial support to the transgender community to assist with gender-confirming surgeries. Tony is known for infusing his talks on transitioning from female to male, with insight and humor.

M. Dru Levasseur is staff attorney for Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund, Inc. (TLDEF), a national nonprofit that works to achieve equality for transgender people, and is Co-Founder and Vice-President of the Jim Collins Foundation, Inc., an organization that works to provide financial assistance to transgender people for gender-confirming surgeries. Dru received his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts and his J.D. from Western New England College School of Law.

Margaret S. Stumpp, PhD is Chief Investment Officer for Quantitative Management Associates (QMA) -a $60 billion investment management affiliate of Prudential Financial. She has authored numerous articles in publications such as: The Financial Analyst’s Journal, The Journal of Portfolio Management, and the Journal of Investment Management, has appeared on CNBC and her research and opinions have been covered in publications including NY Times, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and Forbes magazine. Margaret holds MA and PhD degrees in Economics from Brown University. In early 2002, Margaret formally changed genders from male to female while maintaining her visibility in the investment profession and focuses on issues affecting transgender people in the workplace.
