  1. this is so delicious (the fracturing of the Republican party) I can hardly stand it. Listening to Rush Limbaugh lately has never been more entertaining. heehee srlsy

  2. Of course, they’re not the only ones eating their young. Look at the Clinton/Obama pie fights on Daily Kos.

Needless to say, I just like all this Repug talk. Let Black-Jack Bennett keep talking.

  3. Is anyone else bothered by the fact that the media seems to be deciding this election for us? We’re constantly being told which candidates have any possibility of getting elected, and the pundits seem to spend every waking moment eliminating people from consideration. Why should I care who the NY Times thinks has the best chance of election? Present each candidate’s beliefs and credentials, stand aside, and allow me to make my own decision.

    Alexis de Tocqueville warned us:

“The dignity of man is not shattered in a single blow, but slowly softened, bent, and eventually neutered. Men are seldom forced to act, but are constantly restrained from acting. Such power does not destroy outright, but prevents genuine existence. It does not tyrannize immediately, but it dampens, weakens, and ultimately suffocates, until the entire population is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid, uninspired animals, of which the government is shepherd.”

  4. i agree, christine – especially with projected winners in some very close races yesterday. i thought we (& the media) learned our lesson from 2000, but apparently not.

i don’t think they should be able to project wins at all, unless the win is something like 3:1.

  5. Why is it a problem to project a winner in a state where the polls have closed? Because it might affect what people do in other states?

  6. If you’re voting on the west coast, and you hear that polls show one candidate walking away with the election, it could affect your own behavior. I personally think that there ought to be a news blackout until the polls close everywhere. Right now, between the party honchos and the media, the majority of the candidate pool is eliminated before things even get serious.
