Wolfpit Opened

Last night I got in on a 5:18 train from Philly and went straight to the theatre where Wolfpit was opening. Everybody else was dressed up; I was in traveling clothes (which yesterday meant jeans, button down, sweater, DMs. I was going to go buy a tie at Macy’s to dress it up a little but decided against it when I realized I had my luggage to lug around.)
Donna, Joanne, Caprice and her wife all came, and it was lovely to see all four of them. As Donna has mentioned elsewhere, Betty had a little surprise in store for me, but I can’t tell anyone what it is. It was a very nice surprise for me, that’s for sure. If you do go, let me just say that you’ll see a side of Betty that you’re not expecting to see (and that no one in the trans community has ever seen before, I don’t think).
The irony of course is that I’d just spent three days alone at IFGE with trannies aplenty, and had the bizarre moment of realizing every dark-haired girl who passed by was turning my head – yet another twist in the ongoing unexpectedness that is my life these days. But there are some very beautiful transwomen and crossdressers out there; some days I think for the good of all I should be polygamous.
Anyhoo, more on IFGE when I get around to that, but for now, I just wanted to recommend that anyone locally go see Wolfpit – it’s a bizarre and wonderful and disturbing play, with beautiful language and a really well-chosen cast.

Girls Gone Helpful

It seems sometimes that all we ever hear about in terms of what kids do with their Spring Break is of the ‘girls gone wild’ variety, but Sirena sent me this link to a movie that documents a very different type of Spring Break spent by some kids helping clean up houses in New Orleans.
I’m not surprised to see that Acorn organized these trips; they’re one of the best orgs I know at building community.

Tentative Treaty

aurora aeneas
This scene is something we never thought we’d see: Aurora and Aeneas on the same bed. Endymion doesn’t seem to care much either way, but Aeneas is a little bit more of a momma’s boy, & so jealous of anyone near my side of the bed.
But alas, progress!

Sex at IFGE

Today I finally get to do my ‘trans sex & identity’ workshop at the IFGE conference, and I’m really pleased to have the chance. I’m wondering if I should kind of warn people at the get-go that they should be prepared for talk of strap-ons. Maybe I should have added a note in the program description: The word fuck will be used.

Off to Philly

Well, I’m off to Philly, by myself, without Betty, all by my lonesome.
But really, I’m excited about going.
Okay, I’d be more excited if it didn’t mean sleeping two nights without Betty.
But still, I’m looking forward to being part of Mona Rae Mason’s presentation on Thursday, and of finally doing my ‘trans sex & identity’ workshop on Friday.
See whoever’s going, there!
(No cats, either! How am I going to sleep?!)

The Plan

I’ve been wanting to lose weight for more than a year now, but for whatever reason, I knew my brain wasn’t in it – until the beginning of this year, when I realized I’d taken off 13 lbs. in the course of 2005, but by January had put back on all but 4 of those pounds.
So this year I’m trying an escalating workout program: started with 10 minutes of workout in January, and have been adding 5 minutes to my workout time every month – which means I’m up to 25 minutes’ workout time for April. It’s a lot easier this way because it just feels like you’re adding another set of crunches or leg lifts.
Better still, www.myfooddiary.com is proving to be really helpful, and not just for “dieting” but for keeping track of my carbs, saturated fats, protein, vitamins = the works. So I feel like I’m re-learning how to eat decently, instead of just losing pounds.
And it’s already yielding results: 2.2″ off my hips and waist, and a total of 5.5 lbs in 14 days. At this rate, I’ll be at my goal weight by our anniversary in July, which would rock. Only 18 more lbs. to lose.
