Feministe has compiled a bunch of evidence that gay couples are being something like hand-picked to get married in CA. Why? So that they look right. So that there’s no men in dresses. So that images from the gay weddings can’t be used by opponents of same-sex marriage to prove we’re all freaks.
Well you know what? The real gender “problems” like me & Betty are already married, people, so quit worrying. Let the boys wear gowns – I mean, how long have some of these couples waited to tie the legal knot?
“Will it play with Bungalo Bill and da family” has always been a driver in marketing campaigns. This is standard stuff in politics.
Wow. I’m surprised, yet not surprised. I’m wanting to see trans couples get married! I was teasing Dana the other day, I said, Hey honey, if we ever get divorced, we can now get remarried, in CA! She was not amused. =p
A wonderful email pal of mine who lives in the LA area would look great in a wedding gown. She is Asian, very petite (I think she is a size 2) and has grown her own hair down to her waist. She lives almost full time except for work (and without hormones!).
She insists that her colleagues at work don’t know. But I still can’t convince her that having hair down to her waist, in curls no less, distinctly feminine face, eyebrows etc., expressing feminine ablutions like nail polish and shaving her legs, wearing perfume and being as feminine as she is “probably” sends just “one or two signals” to her employers and colleagues that she is not “one of the boys”. 🙂
The truly amazing thing about it is that XXX XXX has an IQ in the range of about 150 and holds major graduate degrees in IT. Just shows that we can never truly see ourselves like others can.
On second thought, the press would assume the couple to be a normal hetero couple and not even publish the picture.
