I might add that there is an additional level to the song when you consider that in chickens (as all birds, some fish, prawns and butterflies/moths) it is the females that carry the XY equivalent (ZW) and therefore determines the sex of the offspring produced and males that carry the XX equiv (ZZ). Don't think they knew that back then...
