I hope people in the community can rally to help make the Tribeca Film Festival (and other film distributors) understand how hateful this film is, which essentially exploits the subject of anti-trans violence for an “entertainment film” with laughs. Moreover, the film has jokes about rape and used mention of real life anti-trans violence like Angie Zapata and Jorge Lopez Mercado in the Preview, only to combine their stories with a campy, trashy exploitation film. It’s a foul incredibly cynical concept.
Ugh. I was so upset by this movie that I made a facebook group to protest it:

Laika, thank you for starting the group. I wrote about the film on my “Skip the Makeup” blog: http://skipthemakeup.blogspot......rance.html

Sorry I didn’t mention that is you, explicitly, Gina – but yours is the article I linked to. Thanks for it.
