Summer Wedding Clothes

Posted by – August 1, 2009

Honestly, what do you wear when you’re me, for a summer wedding, when you’re doing a reading & want to feel confident & where a bunch of people will be looking at you?

I’m not the long tunic/flowing pants type. I’m not the sundress type. Everything I own is black.

Miss Thing tells me she has no appropriate sandals. I do not understand how someone can own 50 pairs of shoes & not own the right sandals (especially when she doesn’t know what dress she’s wearing yet).

On top of the rest, it may rain, which means nothing too sheer.

*sigh*

I am so bad at formal clothes.

It is very easy to own a lot of shoes and not have the “right” shoes, if you’re a femme that is . :-)

Normally I’d probably recommend a classic summer suit…..but they’re not usually black. Something snazzy and F. Scott. Fitzgerald-ish with a pocket square. You could try a cream color, with say a lavender shirt. I know..it’s not black.

For a femme, I’d tell them to wear a pretty dress of some kind, perhaps even a LBD if they were a blackette, a la:

and bring along a pretty femme-y summer trench in case it rains.

Wish I could be more help.

What about that cool andro kind of Ellen Degeneres look? Like the khaki suit with the shirt collar over the jacket collar?

I ended up getting these. They’re not really sandals, of course, but they’re crazy comfortable and show off a pedicure quite nicely. ;)

I also got a nice little summer dress. Bring on the heat!

Helen scored a killer suit. She’s gonna look awesome.

Doc Martens are appropriate for any occasion, the dressier the better.

Black is very good too. Think Abby Sciuto.
And umbrellas maybe with a cute skull design.
