15 Minutes (of Shame)

I really don’t want to think about the disaster that will be the Susan Stanton documentary on CNN, but now there’s a snippet released and it’s worse than I feared, the same documentary in which she says, and I quote,

“Some of the guys I’ve seen who crossdress just a little… they seem so absolutely content but so unable to be anything but an ugly man… with lipstick.”

Keep it classy, Sue. I probably won’t even watch.

  1. I don’t know if the finished product will be sensationalist, but that trailer certainly is. Yuk. And yes, that was an ugly comment she made.

I thought people had been watching enough talk shows about trans people for enough years that transition would not be such a huge deal, but I guess it’s still a huge deal for a lot of people. And I suppose it’s people like Susan who get media attention, whereas so many others make the transition without all the hoopla.

  2. You know, I’m not a huge fan of Susan. There’s a lot of comments she makes that want me to just smack her. She acts like no one could ever tell she’s trans, and that she’s better than other ‘weirdos’ (at least that’s how she seems to think of the community). Passing is something she doesn’t have an exclusive on, and the number of straight guys that on me would prove that.
Why, oh why couldn’t CNN have picked someone better…
