Happy Chanukah

Tonight is the first night of Chanukah: peace to all of my Jewish friends who will light that first meaningful candle tonight. Chanukah lasts 8 nights, which means this year it will last past the 12 days of Christmas, up until the 29th. (That’s for those of you who aren’t Jewish/don’t live in New York.)

  1. My darling Jewish-more-or-less-at-one-time spouse is making me write a correction (WordPress is not letting her log in for some reason). This year, Chanukah began at sundown on the 21st, not the 22nd. So it does last until sundown of the 29th (which means we still have time to make latkes). The twelve days of Christmas, however, run from Christmas Day to Twelfth Night, January 5th, the day before Epiphany.
