I heard an interview on NPR with the screenwriter, Dustin Lance Black, who apparently knew Milk back then. He said that everyone who had known Milk was kinda freaked out at how good Penn's portrayal is. The Fresh Air program on NPR has done 2 interviews with folks associated with this movie so far, and it's made me want to go see it as well (Nov 20 & 24).

It probably won't be a huge box office smash, since it is, after all, about GAY people, but it looks like it's gonna get huge reviews from the critics. And I know we'll buy a couple of tickets at least.

Here is an interesting announcement that the Boulder PFLAG is passing around:
If you plan to see the movie, MILK, be aware that the CEO of Cinemark contributed large sums of money toward the passage of California's Proposition 8. For more information, please see the website: http://NoMilkforCinemark.com/. Also see Joanne Arnold’s letter to the editor in this morning’s Daily Camera including information on other theaters near Boulder. In Denver, it can be seen in GLBT-friendly settings at the Mayan on November 26, and you can Google other Landmark Theatres.

You can write or phone the CEO of Cinemark Theaters to let him know you are boycotting his theaters due to his support of Prop 8:

Alan W. Stock 4906 St. Lawrence Court, Plano, Texas 75094; phone: 800-246-3627.

Thanks to Jean Hodges & Kit McChesney for their information.
