The state of Connecticut has now made same-sex marriage legal! It’s the third state to do so, after Massachusetts & California, although of course Vermont has civil unions and New York is now recognizing same sex marriages that were performed elsewhere.
It’s exciting. It’s human. It’s patriotic.
That said, the forces for Prop 8 in California – which would repeal same-sex marriage rights – have a lot more money & are spending it on ads & whatnot trying to undo last year’s ruling. To get more information, doante, or find out what you can do, try noonprop8.com.
Got our ‘No on 8′ yard sign up, but that’s just the beginning. We were doing okay until the the Mormons started pumping money into television ads in the State. Now we’re outfunded and time is growing short. Oh, and their televisions blatently lie about what will happen if Prop 8 does not pass (see links, below)…

We need help from everyone in getting the word out, and especially from trans activists and bloggers. Look at what happened with the Trans-for-Obama movement, look at the awareness that was raised.
What we have in the next few weeks is an unique opportunity to continue the unity formed during the ENDA votes between the T and all those LGB organizations that stood up for us. It’s time to expand on that and start to pay back the support they provided. Raise awareness that trans folk are here and have political influence. Raise the level of normalcy for all LGBTQI.
How?
Get more people out to vote No on 8. Talk to everyone you can about it. Start a ripple effect. Email. Call. Volunteer from your own home (see links below for joining the phone bank from home).
Call or email anyone and everyone you know that lives in California or knows someone that lives in CA, and do it NOW before something else distracts you. Raise awareness that we have a fight that we need to win and that lies are being spread against us.

Blog viewership is not just local and every reader has friends and relatives; eventually the word will get to someone that lives in California. Get that person to vote “No on 8” with us! Again, do it *today*. Then do it again a week from now. And again and again. Make it your “Monday Post”, there are 4 more of them before Election Day.

Guess what? You can still have as much influence as if you did have your own Blog. Write to the owners of all of your favorite Blogs and get them to post every Monday until Election Day. Get them to help spread the word. Spread this post like a virus.

Among other religious groups, the Mormons have started pumping money into television ads in the State. A lot of money. As in millions and millions of dollars. And this from an organization that knows persecution. Now we’re outfunded and time is growing short.
