Fighter Pilot? I have a private IFR Certificate and about 800 hours in small planes. It is fun to fly.

Helen, why not live the wish? There are fight pilot schools for non certificate people that want the experience of flying a fighter plane in a dog fight.

The fighter pilot wannabe first undergoes ground school to learn basic maneuvers, how to bail out etc. They are then matched with another fighter pilot wannabe. The planes are usually two seat trainers. The fighter pilot wannabe flies with an actual former fighter pilot and competes with the opposite number to "shoot" the other person down (simulated but in real flight, not a simulator!). It is a little pricey. But if you really want to see what its like, you can be a fighter pilot for a day.

Here is a great place to do it. The planes are manageable, not real WWII fighters that few non military trained, non certified people could ever fly. (I couldn't handle a real WWII fighter without extensive training and I am certified with a respectable amount of hours in complex airplanes). These planes anyone can immediately fly with a little help from an instructor.

Why not check this out!

PS. I will fly you if you want, unless Betty wants to do it too.

Hi Viva. I only meant that when Richard Dawkins speaks of memes, he means something rather different. I certainly hope that the culture we pass along is more than Internet chain letter questionnaires!
