As a singular group, African-Americans are vocally anti-GLBT. Which is also counter-intuitive, because the same people who repress us would love noting more than to strip ethnic minorities of their rights as well. The recient incident in Jena Louisiana demonstrates this clearly. Yet all too often, members of ethnic and religious minorities openly declare hostilities towards GLBT persons who would otherwise be natural allies. "Divide and Conquer"?
The GLBTI community, along with their allies, must construct a firm foundation of harmony and unwavering solidarity, in order to achieve unconditional inclusion for Unequivocal Equality, as well as Basic Human & Civil Rights, bringing to fruition a positive, contemporary solution, not regression.

Helen, PLEASE post this far and wide. Send it to the newspapers. Fax it to every member of Congress. Print it out and post it on every bulletin board you see. It would be a shame to limit this beautiful, eloquent, and powerful speech to those few who were there live to hear it and to those who come here to read it. Thank you for everything you do.
