(TRIESS) from 1995 to 2002. Virginia is truly a pioneer for all of us who are gender variant in all catagories under the transgender umbrella. Yes, she is extremely opinionated and justly so. She has paid her dues in life and deserves the right to be respected by all and for all to listen. It is ok to disagree but it is important to respect her. Posing the problem of public acceptance of crossdressers as a "gay" issue ducks the problem of non-normativity. Virginia Prince's failed relationships both as a partner (note I don't say husband) and parent (note I don't say father), as documented in Docter's book are going to pose a continuing challenge to public perceptions should the mass media ever decide to take an interest. In UK we have changed much in this area. It is now permissible to serve if GBLorT. There are to my knowledge at least 2 service women who transitioned (including SRS/GRS) in the service. And too many GBL who barely raise a comment from any but the most bigotted (and then usually only behind their backs). Have the UK armed forces reduced in capability? Not at all.
